SANKAR Group is a group holding many companies under its umbrella that belongs to the famous politician and businessman who is a former independent member of the Syrian parliament Dr. Ihsan Sankar.
Sankar Group initial stages exists since year1947 when the founder, the father of Dr. Ihsan, Mr. Omar Sankar, established his initial business venture in coordination with his father who was one of the pioneers in the food processing business in Syria. The inherited talents of the family led them to set up several chains of small workshops; which focused mainly on general car maintenance and services.
In the year 1960 those workshops were integrated into one big industrial group holding the name of Omar Sankar Company. The FACTORY, as it was known at that time, was primarily specialized in fabrication of different types of bodies for any transport vehicles, chassis and heads.
The line of production ranged from wooden or steel platform trailers and sidewalk semi-trailers, to large drinking water and industrial tanks. Applying the finest Technology and know-how of those days, Omar Sankar Company soon became prominent in the region as one of the premium manufacturers of tankers, truck-bodies and trailers. ..
Moreover, they become the exclusive agent to Mercedes-Benz (Daimler & Chrysler) – Porsche – Dodge , including all its services , spare parts and after sales services.
In 1977, Dr. Ihsan Sankar who was well experienced in his father's business became the CEO of the company.
In 1979 established Omar Sankar Son's Co (Ihsan Sankar & Co.), and they obtained the agency of Michelin tires in the same year, which lasted until 1999 , and during this period the company provided the best service including large storages, professional marketing and distribution process with vehicles distributed to all cities in Syria, in addition to the permanent follow-up technical staff for the examination of any technical failure or poor manufacturing, and the company followed (R & D system) the system of continuous research and development to meet the needs of customers.
In 1982, Dr. Ihsan Sankar the decided to renovate his father's food processing plant carrying the official manufacturing license No.'1' in Syria and which is now considered as one of the most sophisticated plant of its kind in the region.
In 1989 the company obtained the agency for the Continental tires until 2003.
In 2003, and after all the successes achieved by him, Dr.Ihsan Sankar decided to establish his own company under the name of (Sankar Group).
And which now operates in several areas (Logistic, International Trade, Business Transaction, IT Services, Food Processing, Marketing & Distribution, Row Material, Construction, Real Estate,….)
